“Though
Kristopher Irmiter’s costume could have been a bit more flashy and more
flattering, his Escamillo commanded attention with each
appearance. In fact, his macho personality and electrifying
charisma were here seen to be as much of a threat to Jose’s self-image
as was the Toreador’s ability to capture Carmen’s attention. Some
very facinating interplay occurred in their third act encounter.
Irmiter’s ‘Toreador Song’ was strong, virile, and domineering, sung
without the strain too many baritones show when dealing with the song’s
high tessitura.”
-Classical New Jersey
“Baritone Kristopher Irmiter was a virile and bright voiced Escamillo,
and his ‘Toreador Song” was a properly extroverted account of the
bullfighter’s prowess in the ring.”
-Trenton Times
“Kristopher Irmiter sings the role of the toreador Escamillo without
resorting to the silly posturing of so many productions; his arrogance
seems natural.”
-Bucks County Courier Times
“Kristopher
Irmiter conveyed Escamillo’s bravado well.”
-Opera
“Bass
Kristopher Irmiter as Escamillo was rumbly voiced and (appropriately)
arrogant.”
-New Jersey Star-Ledger
“Kristopher Irmtier performed the towering role of Escamillo, singing
the commanding Toreador Song with conviction and swashbuckling
manner. Irmiter
is an effective and resonant Escamillo, who navigates the generally
low-lying part crisply, and shows a nice lyrical quality in his Act IV
duet with Carmen.”
-Town Topics
“Rounding out the principals are Kristopher Irmiter’s impressive
Escamillo and Karen Fergurson’s affecting Micaella. Irmiter
conveys the bullfighter’s bravado and sings
strongly.”
-Courier-Post
